Today in class we tried a new type of note taking: Sketch Notes. For this assignment, on a blank sheet of paper you will do 3 things for every video/slide. First, you will write the title Second, you will jot some ideas, notes, summary of the event Three, (this is key) you will include a symbol, visual or drawing. Why? Many people are visual in a sense that they can connect an image with something they write. This is a wonderful method of note taking. This assignment is worth 18 points, and I think that many will realize the benefits of it. Watch the videos below and access the attached powerpoint for the slides and EXAMPLES of sketch notes. You have to click on the link to watch each video.
Yesterday we worked in groups to design your own island that could have any type of government and economic resources that you wanted. Today we dived into to what government actually is and the purposes. In your homework reading, you will see that both Thomas Hobbes and John Locke believed that governments exist because if they didn't we were revert back to a state of nature. In the popular movie the Hunger Games, we see what a state of nature is actually like: Below, we explore what the purposes of government actually are. We talked about them yesterday through a brainstorming activity, but now you can see what other people actually think as well. At the bottom of the page is the attachment for our handout and also our powerpoint slides.
Hello Spring 2015 classes. I am looking forward to working with all of you and getting to know you and your interests. My goal is to change your perception on what government and economics is really about. My goal IS NOT to teach you what to believe, but how to think for yourself and develop a well structured argument based on facts to give yourself merit.
